Amy had always been an avid cyclist, but today was special. It was Sunday morning, and she was heading to the Peaks for one of her cycling adventures. Despite the chilly weather, she was excited to meet up with her friend Becky and go for a ride to their favorite café, Coleman’s Deli. As they started their journey, Amy couldn’t help but feel grateful for the climbs that were keeping her warm in the freezing temperatures.

Heading towards their first climb of the day, Amy and Becky decided to take some back lanes to avoid the icy roads. As they pedalled their way up the hill, Amy couldn’t help but laugh at how bundled up she was in six layers of clothing. Despite the cold, the stunning views and the company of her friends made the ride truly enjoyable.

Reaching the summit, Amy and Becky were greeted by a breathtaking view of the countryside, with the sun shining brightly overhead. As they descended towards Coleman’s Deli for a well-deserved break, Amy’s excitement grew at the thought of her favorite BLT sandwich and a hot chocolate. However, she was disappointed to learn that they had run out of porridge, her usual pre-ride fuel.

Despite the setback, Amy and Becky enjoyed their delicious food and hot drinks at the café before setting off on the next leg of their journey. As they continued their ride, Amy couldn’t help but admire the beauty of the Peaks and the tranquillity of the countryside around them. The mist had cleared, revealing stunning vistas and wildlife along the way.

As they cycled through Matlock, Amy and Becky encountered heavy traffic, but they made the best of the situation by joking about single-file cycling to avoid annoying other road users. Eventually, they parted ways as Becky had a faster-paced training session ahead of her. Alone on the road, Amy reflected on her struggles with her eating disorder and the guilt she experienced after indulging in carrot cake and hot chocolate.

Despite her inner turmoil, Amy resolved to push aside those negative thoughts and keep moving forward. She reminded herself of the importance of self-care and mental well-being, especially during Eating Disorder Awareness Week. With a renewed sense of determination, Amy continued her ride, enjoying the peaceful solitude and the freedom of the open road.

After completing her ride, Amy returned home and decided to treat herself to some homemade pancakes. With a simple recipe of bananas, oats, eggs, and protein powder, she whipped up a delicious and nutritious post-ride snack. As she enjoyed her pancakes, Amy reflected on the day’s adventures and the joys of cycling, both physically and mentally.

Overall, Amy’s cycling adventure was a mix of challenges, triumphs, and personal reflections. Through the ups and downs of the ride, she found solace in the beauty of nature, the camaraderie of friends, and the joy of indulging in simple pleasures like good food and homemade pancakes. As she savored the last bite of her meal, Amy knew that she would always find comfort and strength in the saddle, no matter what obstacles lay ahead.
